Michael J. Totten has spent a great deal of time living in the Middle East, including war-torn Lebanon. His new book is called The Road to Fatima Gate: The Beirut Spring, the Rise of Hezbollah, and the Iranian War Against Israel.
Totten says the book takes its title from the Fatima Gate, a shuttered Lebanon border crossing that has become a flashpoint in the struggle between the Western powers and the Iranian-led Islamic bloc. He believes Lebanon will push Iraq to the back burner.
